A babysitter during the coronavirus

Are you considering hiring a babysitter, but are you unsure how to do so safely? We have taken measures to ensure our babysitting services run safely. We would also like to share our tips and best practices, so that you can safely book a babysitter. Reassuring, right?

#1 Ask corona-related questions in the booking request

Is the babysitter sticking to the RIVM guidelines? Or has the Angel (recently) been in contact with someone who has been diagnosed with the coronavirus? These things are important to know and it’s therefore logical to ask the babysitter, so make sure to ask the following questions in the booking request. That way, you’ll know for sure whether or not it is safe to book the babysitter:

  • Do you stick to the RIVM guidelines and are you keeping 1,5 meter distance?
  • Do you keep your social circle small?
  • Have you been to any busy places?
  • Have you been in contact with someone who has been diagnosed with the coronavirus?

#2 A familiar face

For the coming period, try to only book 1 Babysitting Angel in order to keep your social circle as small as possible. Would you like for the Angel to only babysit for you and not for other families? No problem, simply make clear agreements with the babysitter.

#3 Discuss your expectations

For the babysitter, it would be nice to know in advance what is expected. Discuss the family’s rules regarding the coronavirus via the chat in the app. For example, how do you deal with the 1,5 meter rule for the kids?

#4 Hygiene regulations

Stick to the hygiene regulations, but also make sure the Babysitting Angel is able to stick to those same regulations at your home. For example, make sure to stock up on desinfectant gel and soap.

#5 Keep each other informed regarding possible health concerns

Keep each other up to date regarding health; important for both the family and the babysitter. The situation can, of course, alway chance, which is why it’s important to do so several times prior to the babysitter. For example, 1 day in advance and again 2 hours before the babysitting service.

#6 Our interviews

We have also adjusted our policy for the interviews of our Babysitting Angels. We only interview babysitters in Amsterdam face to face at the office, with due observance of the RIVM regulations. For the other cities, they are interviewed by one of our Angel Recruiters via an online video call. During these (online) conversations we go deeper into the motivation and experience of the babysitter, before she is admitted to our Babysitting App.

Current Charly Cares policy

Charly Cares’ current policy is aligned with the RIVM guidelines. We also continuously keep a close eye on the RIVM guidelines. We ask all our users, parents & Angels, to carefully follow our guidelines.
