For most Christmas-lovers, the cosiest month of the year has arrived: December! Cities are being decorated with the prettiest Christmas lighting, the holidays are just around the corner and the best activities are being organised. Because of this, we have already assembled a list for you with 4 of the best things to do during the Christmas season:
20 - 30 December: Ice Village
During the last two weeks of December, all ice-skating enthusiasts can get their fill in the Museumplein. A large ice-skating rink will be waiting for you there surrounded by cosy winter chalets where you can buy the best Christmas must-haves. Of course, there will be plenty of delicious food to go around while you enjoy the live entertainment!
And the best thing about it: entry is free! Click here for more information.
8 December - 7 January: ice rink IJsvrij
The ice rink was actually planned for last year, but this year it will finally happen: the first skating rink at the Euromast. At this 450m long skating rink, you will be entertained with live music, beautiful Christmas trees, wooden chalets and cozy fire pits —just like the one in Central Park, New York!
The entrance to the IJsvrij festival is for free. The costs for ice skating is € 3.50 for children and € 5.00 for adults.
15 - 24 December: Royal Christmas Fair
On the Lange Voorhout in The Hague, tens of Christmas stalls will be waiting for you with delicious food and beautiful souvenirs you can buy and take home with you. Everything from fresh flammkuchen to unique woodcarvings and atmospheric lighting.
During the first weekend, there will be a Royal Children Christmas Market, designed specifically for kids. They can have the best day of their lives there on the coolest attractions and by participating in the most fun activities. Of course, you can also buy amazing Christmas must-haves.

Beware the website is in Dutch only.
16 & 17 December: Knus Utrecht
Knus is organising a – you’ll never guess – “knusse” Christmas market where you can buy all kinds of homemade Christmas items. Hot cocoa topped with whipped cream and hot buns will, of course, be present as well. Utrecht’s city centre – including the Mariaplaats, Zadelstraat, Domplein, Stadhuisplein, Twijnstraat and Neude – will be transformed into a Christmas paradise!
There is so much more to tell about Knus, but why don’t you just come by to discover everything yourself?
